Disaster Supplies Kit

This list should include all items you may need in the event you have to relocate to a shelter or evacuate the island. Supplies should be sorted in sturdy, easy to carry containers such as duffel bags, backpacks or covered garbage containers.

WATER
Store water in plastic containers such as soft drink bottles. Store one gallon of water per person per day. Keep at least a three-day supply of water per person.

FOOD
Store 3-5 days supply of non-perishable food. Select food that requires no refrigeration, preparation or cooking, and little or no water.

FIRST AID KIT

NON-PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
Aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever, anti-diarrhea medication, antacid (for stomach upset).

TOOLS AND SUPPLIES
Paper cups, plates, plastic utensils, battery-operated radio and extra batteries, flashlight and extra batteries, non-electric can opener, paper and pencil, needles and thread, whistle.

SANITATION
Personal hygiene items, plastic garbage bags, ties (for personal sanitation use), plastic bucket with tight lid, disinfectant.

CLOTHING AND BEDDING

SPECIAL ITEMS
Remember family members with special requirements, such as infants, elderly or disabled persons (remember prescription medication)

ENTERTAINMENT
Games and books.

IMPORTANT FAMILY DOCUMENTS
Keep these records in a waterproof, portable container.
Passports, immunization records, cash, your will, insurance policies, contracts, deeds, stocks and bonds etc.
